Weston Museum Quiz Night @ Weston Museum
Sep 12 @ 18:30 – 21:00

mini ad for pub quiz

*CANCELLED* With England stomping through the rounds and football fever gripping the country, we suspect that many of you will be rather occupied this Wednesday, so we are calling off this month’s quiz night. We will see you all again for next month’s quiz on Wednesday 8th August 🙂

Try your luck at our monthly quiz night; learn a little about your local history and have a laugh at the same time.

During our refurbishment closure, we travelled around the local pubs with our own brand of fun and interesting, but definitely not serious, quizzes. Now that we have our lovely building back, you can come in and join us here. You don’t need lots of historical knowledge; we promise to keep the questions simple, with only the occasional head scratcher thrown in. The quiz includes a mystery object round, so whilst you’re enjoying your drink from our bar of locally sourced drinks and nibbles, you can also have a guess at a selection of historical objects and replicas.

Only £5 to enter a team (of up to five people) and there is a prize for the winning team. Numbers are limited so you can book in advance to guarantee your team a slot, but if there is space then we won’t turn you away on the night. Join us from 6.30, ready for the quiz to start at 7.30pm.

Any questions? Just give the team a call or send us an email.

Heritage Open Days – Fortune Telling and Tours @ Weston Museum
Sep 15 @ 10:00 – 17:00
Heritage Open Days - Fortune Telling and Tours @ Weston Museum | England | United Kingdom

Have your fortune revealed by our Victorian fortune teller and learn about Weston Museum’s recent refurbishment project on a guided tour of the galleries and some behind the scenes areas.

For this weekend only, there are lots of things to learn about, including both the museum and your own future. The Victorian seaside has a long history of sideshows and performers and in the afternoon between 1pm and 3pm on both days, you can have your fortune revealed by our Victorian fortune teller.
You can also join one of the museum team on a tour around the galleries and to some of the behind the scenes areas that might be included in the second stage of the refurbishment.  Tour times are as follows:
Saturday – 10:15am, 12:30pm, 1:30pm, 3pm
Sunday – 11am, 1pm, 3pm

Weston Museum has a history that stretches back over a century, but it has recently had a wonderful refurbishment to bring its displays and facilities up to date. With new galleries, a new shop and cafe, as well as new learning, reminiscence and outreach programmes, the museum now has lots to offer. Learn about the history of the museum and see the artifacts that inspired the museum’s founder to begin preserving the history of the local area in a way that was accessible to all.

Both the fortune telling activities and guided tours are free, but please be aware that numbers are limited so arrive in good time to avoid disappointment.

Tea and Talk @ Weston Museum
Sep 15 @ 11:00 – 12:00

teacups and books

Weston Museum’s monthly tea and talk usually takes place on the 3rd Saturday of the month and features a wide variety of subjects and speakers from our wonderful band of volunteers. Enjoy a short talk followed by a drink and some cake, with the opportunity for an informal chat with the speaker.

There is no need to book ahead and the small charge of £3 includes tea or coffee as well as some of the delicious homemade cake, baked on site at the museum.

Future topics will be announced on our Facebook page (@westonmuseum), with the first talk in June given by Andy Stanley on the subject ‘2,000 Years of carelessness – the history of our area and some examples of what was left behind in our fields’.
