DESCRIPTION:‘History’s Best Bits’ is our latest community exhibition\, sharing young people’s favourite elements of local\, national\, and global history.\n\n\nThe exhibition has been curated by the children in our Young Archaeologists’ Rusty Club and Home Education group\, with contributions from Ukrainian families living both in Ukraine and locally. Making the exhibition has enabled the children to share their favourite bits of history\, from Ancient Greek and Egyptian times up to World War Two family connections.\n\n\nVisitors can see hand-made models\, collected treasures\, photographs\, and oral histories\, on display during the museum’s normal opening hours until Saturday 28th February.

DESCRIPTION:Stories of Home: Portraits of Our Community\nWeston Museum\nSaturday 6 December 2025 – Saturday 14 March 2026 (The Museum is CLOSED on a Sunday and Monday\, as well as closing for Christmas between Friday 19 December 2025 and Saturday 3 January 2026) \nA new photographic exhibition at Weston Museum!\n\nA new photographic exhibition opening at Weston Museum offers a vibrant snapshot of life in Weston-super-Mare today. Open from 6 December 2025 to 14 March 2026\, Stories of Home: Portraits of our Community brings together a compelling series of self-portraits and personal reflections that illuminate what it means to call Weston-super-Mare ‘home’.\n\nAhead of the exhibition\, members of the community were invited to take part in photography and filming sessions. Stepping in front of the camera\, participants were encouraged to look directly into the lens for a photographic self-portrait and to share their thoughts on the idea of ‘home’\, and what Weston means to them.\n\nThe project captured 120 self-portraits\, each offering a candid glimpse into the people and everyday stories that shape the town. Participants were also given the opportunity to record short audio reflections\, some of which will feature in a film for the exhibition.\n\nVisitors to the exhibition will also be able to contribute their own stories at open sessions taking place at Weston Museum on Saturday 10 January\, Saturday 14 February\, and Thursday 5 March 2026. DESCRIPTION:Stories of Home: Portraits of Our Community\nWeston Museum\nSaturday 6 December 2025 – Saturday 14 March 2026 (The Museum is CLOSED on a Sunday and Monday\, as well as closing for Christmas between Friday 19 December 2025 and Saturday 3 January 2026) \nA new photographic exhibition at Weston Museum!\n\nA new photographic exhibition opening at Weston Museum offers a vibrant snapshot of life in Weston-super-Mare today. Open from 6 December 2025 to 14 March 2026\, Stories of Home: Portraits of our Community brings together a compelling series of self-portraits and personal reflections that illuminate what it means to call Weston-super-Mare ‘home’.\n\nAhead of the exhibition\, members of the community were invited to take part in photography and filming sessions. Stepping in front of the camera\, participants were encouraged to look directly into the lens for a photographic self-portrait and to share their thoughts on the idea of ‘home’\, and what Weston means to them.\n\nThe project captured 120 self-portraits\, each offering a candid glimpse into the people and everyday stories that shape the town. Participants were also given the opportunity to record short audio reflections\, some of which will feature in a film for the exhibition.\n\nVisitors to the exhibition will also be able to contribute their own stories at open sessions taking place at Weston Museum on Saturday 10 January\, Saturday 14 February\, and Thursday 5 March 2026. SUMMARY:Heritage Craft Workshops - Adult and Child Session
DESCRIPTION:  \nEnjoy trying out two different heritage crafts in this adult and child version of our popular Heritage Craft Workshops. Explore both the history and practise of two craft techniques with experienced historical crafters to guide you and then have a go yourself at creating an item to take home. \nIn March’s workshop you can explore textiles and mosaics; you’ll learn about the history of mosaics with our archaeologist and mosaics crafter Jane Hill\, before making your own mosaic coaster to take home. You’ll also get to learn about the history of textiles with textile crafter and historical educator Katherine Bell and have a go at a choice of textile techniques including rigid heddle weaving\, inkle weaving\, disc braiding and lucet braiding. \nEach workshop lasts 45 minutes and there are refreshments available throughout\, of a choice of drink and a sweet treat. \nThis session is designed for adults and children to work together\, so it’s a great chance for parents or grandparents to share an interest together and both learn a new craft. Children need to be at least 9 years old\, but attendees don’t require any previous experience of the craft\, even complete beginners are welcome.\nTickets cost £15 per attendee and include both workshops\, plus materials and refreshments. Each booking needs to include at least 1 adult and 1 child\, but additional children over 9 years or additional adults can also book a slot with the group. DESCRIPTION:🪻 Bring some spring magic into your day & learn the skills behind the beautiful art of Stained Glass with Cutlines Glass. 💐\nOver the session you will be introduced to the basics in glass cutting\, leading & soldering. You’ll be guided through the tools involved and health and safety protocols required. You will get to choose from one of the supplied designs\, then using any of the wide selection of beautiful\, coloured glass available\, create a stained glass suncatcher you’ll be proud to display in your home. \nNOTE: This course involves working with lead\, and for safety reasons we recommend that pregnant/breast feeding women do not attend. \nIMPORTANT INFORMATION \n\nPlease wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty and no open sandals. All protective equipment will be provided.\nOver 15’s only.\nThere will be quite a lot of standing and moderate labour during the making of your stained glass panel.
