Open from 6 December 2025 to 14 March 2026\, Stories of Home: Portraits of our Community brings together a compelling series of self-portraits and personal reflections that illuminate what it means to call Weston-super-Mare ‘home’.\n\nAhead of the exhibition\, members of the community were invited to take part in photography and filming sessions. Stepping in front of the camera\, participants were encouraged to look directly into the lens for a photographic self-portrait and to share their thoughts on the idea of ‘home’\, and what Weston means to them.\n\nThe project captured 120 self-portraits\, each offering a candid glimpse into the people and everyday stories that shape the town. Participants were also given the opportunity to record short audio reflections\, some of which will feature in a film for the exhibition.\n\nVisitors to the exhibition will also be able to contribute their own stories at open sessions taking place at Weston Museum on Saturday 10 January\, Saturday 14 February\, and Thursday 5 March 2026. Visitors can have their photographic self-portrait taken\, share their thoughts of ‘home’ and see their image added to a display on the community wall.\n\nStories of Home: Portraits of Our Community has been created in partnership with the South West Heritage Trust\, Weston Museum and Weston-super-Mare Town Council\, with support from a range of community groups.\n\nEntry to the exhibition is free.

DESCRIPTION:🎄 Due to the INCREDIBLE popularity of last year’s Christmas Market Weekend\, we’re so excited to announce that it continues for another year! 🎄\n🌟 We’re opening ours doors on both Saturday AND Sunday\, to double the amount of gift ideas and double the amount of fun! \n🎁 With our wide and wonderful range of local stallholders and businesses\, we’re sure you’ll find something for everyone. \n🍴 Clara’s Café will have its usual tempting treats\, alongside some seasonal specialities! \n🦌 Our Christmas children’s trail will have you hunting through the galleries to find Santa’s missing reindeer\, quick before he needs to leave! Available from the Front Desk for 50p each. \n☃️ Entry to the Christmas Market Weekend is FREE\, FREE\, FREE! \n🎅🏻 We also have a visit from Santa! He’ll be visiting us between 10:30am – 12:30pm and 1:30pm – 3:30pm (Saturday and Sunday) for photos and a Christmas natter. Please note that meeting Santa is a free activity\, and does not include a present from Santa. Photos with Santa are permitted. DESCRIPTION:Join us for our FREE monthly Heritage Talk.  This month’s talk is: ‘Roman Saturnalia’\, by Jane Hill – Heritage & Community Officer\nThis talk will look at the Roman winter festival\, featuring public holidays\, role-reversal\, and widespread merrymaking. Saturnalia was characterized by gift-giving\, gambling\, feasts\, and the suspension of normal social rules\, including masters serving slaves.  Its traditions strongly influenced modern Christmas customs. \n  \n  \n
