Join the team from Weston Museum (and other local organisations) for some hands on activities around sustainability\, archaeological finds and the natural environment. \nThis event will take place out in the open at Ellenborough Park West\, the section closest to the seafront\, which is now a wellbeing park. You can enter the park via one of the two side gates and look for the museum’s pop-up tent. \nThis event is free to enter and you can drop in. You don’t need to buy a ticket or book a time slot\, but some activities may have a small additional charge.

DESCRIPTION:Build a wild nature creation from a mountain of Lego! Join the team from Gincandescence for a freestyle session of Lego building in our Learning Space\, where you can choose from a big pile of Lego to make your own crazy creations. \nTime-slots throughout the day are as follows: \n10-11 \n11:30-12:30 \n1-2 \n2:30-3:30 \nCapacity for each session will be restricted\, so it is advised that tickets are pre-booked before the day. Tickets must be booked for each child attending\, but accompanying adults do not need to book a separate ticket for themselves. To grab a ticket\, just head to Ticketsource or phone or pop in to the museum. \nLego advises that children should be 4 years or over to play with Lego\, due to its potential as a chocking hazard. Parents/carers may bring children of 3 years and up at their own discretion\, but young children must be closely supervised by their accompanying adults to ensure that everyone remains safe. Museum staff and volunteers will be present to support activities\, but parents/carers must remain with young children at all times.

The session will be filled with hands on activities around sustainability\, archaeological finds and the natural environment. \nSessions are designed to be active and accessible for a range of ages and abilities\, but are generally aimed at Key Stage 2 level. If you would like to let us know about any specific considerations for your children then we would welcome this\, just get in touch. \nThis event will take place out in the open at Ellenborough Park West\, the section closest to the seafront\, which is now a wellbeing park. You can enter the park via one of the two side gates and head to the museum pop-up tent to sign in. \nTickets need to be purchased for each child attending\, but parents/carers do not need to purchase a separate ticket (although they will need to stay with their children during the session). \nTickets cost £5 per child and can be booked via Ticketsource or by popping into or phoning the museum directly. \n

DESCRIPTION:DUE TO AN AMBER WEATHER WARNING FOR HEAT\, THIS EVENT HAS BEEN POSTPONED TO THE FOLLOWING WEEK \nThe Vikings weren’t just raiders\, they were explorers and amazing navigators too. Join us for a hands on learning session for home educating families to find out about Viking longboats and navigation methods\, as well as a game of Viking Kubb (a bit like a Viking lawn game!). \nThe session will take place out in the open on the beach at Sand Bay\, where will be using the beach environment around us to recreate the impression of sailing in a Viking longboat. Sessions are designed to be active and accessible for a range of ages and abilities\, but are generally aimed at Key Stage 2 level. If you would like to let us know about any specific considerations for your children then we would welcome this\, just get in touch. \nSand Bay is to the North of Weston-super-Mare centre. We will meet next to the car park that is roughly in the middle of the beach. There are other car parks at both the North end and South end of the beach too; the North one is National Trust and the South one is pay and display near the Commodore pub. The meeting point address for the car park is 4 Sand Rd\, Kewstoke\, Weston-super-Mare BS22 9UE. There is also a bus stop next to the car park. We will meet on the beachside of the road (in the dunes) and then move down onto the beach. \nTickets need to be purchased for each child attending\, but parents/carers do not need to purchase a separate ticket (although they will need to stay with their children during the session). Tickets cost £5 per child and can be booked via Ticketsource or by popping into or phoning the museum directly. \n

SUMMARY:Know Your Place - Photography Exhibition
DESCRIPTION:Know Your Place \nKnow Your Place – Photography Exhibition\nMuseum volunteers will be celebrating Volunteers Week\, by holding a photographic exhibition at Weston Museum Tuesday 1st June to Saturday 12th June. Visitors will be able to see a selection of stunning photographs showcasing historic Weston and North Somerset. Themes will range from Steep Holm to transport from days gone by. The photographs have been taken from the Know Your Place website. Volunteers will be stewarding the exhibition all week and will be on hand to explain the project and how it reflects the identity of the town. \nKnow Your Place is an online mapping resource that allows you to search through historic maps\, images and information for the west of England. It can be explored at Weston Museum\, supported by Weston-super-Mare Town Council\, is working in partnership with North Somerset Council to enhance Know Your Place North Somerset. The project is supported by the National Lottery Fund and the Great Weston Heritage Action Zone.
