Bev G Star – Celebrating Community through Art.

Bev G Star is a passionate artist who draws inspiration from her community in Weston-super-Mare. Her artistic journey began with a heartfelt initiative called ‘Humans of Weston,’ which she created as a way to honour and acknowledge the diverse individuals residing in her local area.

Initially, ‘Humans of Weston’ comprised a collection of striking portraits accompanied by life stories.

Growing up on an estate marked by social deprivation, Bev’s personal experiences shaped her perspective on the power of art to bring people together. With this vision in mind, she transformed ‘Humans of Weston’ into a CIC which she is the managing director of and created a platform for fostering connections within the community through creativity. As part of this evolution, she created a local radio show titled ‘Humans of Weston.’

Bev’s passion lies in developing socially engaging projects that empower individuals to stretch their imaginations, cultivate ideas, and showcase their creativity to the world. By doing so, she creates invaluable experiences that forge deep connections, enhances community spirit, and promote self-esteem among participants.

As a visual artist, Bev’s talents have garnered recognition and numerous commissions. She has been commissioned by Upfest, Europe’s largest Street Art & Graffiti festival, where her works have added to the festival’s vibrant atmosphere. Culture Weston, has also sought Bev’s artistic creativity for their Glow event for two consecutive years, including the Super Shrines project and Climate Carnival. Including Weston Arboretum’s light festival.

Recognising the significance of collaboration and community involvement, Bev has collaborated with North Somerset Community Learning, working closely with the wider community. Her inclusive approach knows no boundaries, as she fervently believes in encouraging people from all walks of life to find their voice and take charge in bringing their ideas to life.

Bev G Star’s artistic journey is a testament to the profound impact that art can have on individuals and communities alike. Through her unwavering dedication, she continues to uplift, inspire, and celebrate the people and places that have shaped her life.
