Spend a relaxed and social evening trying out two different craft workshops, with tasty treats included. Explore both the history and practise of two craft techniques with experienced historical crafters to guide you and then have a go yourself at creating an item to take home.

In December’s workshop you can explore textiles and icing. You’ll learn about the history of textiles with textile crafter and historical educator Katherine Bell and have a go at a choice of textile techniques including rigid heddle band weaving, inkle weaving and disc braiding. You’ll also learn about the craft of brush embroidery in royal icing with expert baker and cake decorator Ann Pickard of the Icing Centre and get to try your hand at some icing techniques.

Each workshop lasts 50 minutes broken by a 20 minute break for a choice of hot drink and a sweet treat.

Workshops are best suited to adults or older teenagers, but they don’t require any previous experience of the craft, even complete beginners are welcome. Tickets cost £30 per attendee and include both workshops, plus materials and refreshments. They can be purchased via Ticketsource or by calling or popping in to the museum. Pre-booking is essential.
