A new photographic exhibition at Weston Museum!

A new photographic exhibition opening at Weston Museum offers a vibrant snapshot of life in Weston-super-Mare today. Open from 6 December 2025 to 14 March 2026, Stories of Home: Portraits of our Community brings together a compelling series of self-portraits and personal reflections that illuminate what it means to call Weston-super-Mare ‘home’.
Ahead of the exhibition, members of the community were invited to take part in photography and filming sessions. Stepping in front of the camera, participants were encouraged to look directly into the lens for a photographic self-portrait and to share their thoughts on the idea of ‘home’, and what Weston means to them.
The project captured 120 self-portraits, each offering a candid glimpse into the people and everyday stories that shape the town. Participants were also given the opportunity to record short audio reflections, some of which will feature in a film for the exhibition.
Visitors to the exhibition will also be able to contribute their own stories at open sessions taking place at Weston Museum on Saturday 10 January, Saturday 14 February, and Thursday 5 March 2026. Visitors can have their photographic self-portrait taken, share their thoughts of ‘home’ and see their image added to a display on the community wall.
Stories of Home: Portraits of Our Community has been created in partnership with the South West Heritage Trust, Weston Museum and Weston-super-Mare Town Council, with support from a range of community groups.
Entry to the exhibition is free.
