Weston Museum has embarked on an exciting venture that invites the community to be a part of history-making. Introducing the Model Hillfort project, an initiative that seeks to construct and proudly display a LEGO replica of the Worlebury Camp Iron Age Hillfort.

Only issue…. We are out of LEGO!!! Can you help?

Unveiling the Past Through LEGO Bricks

Worlebury Camp Iron Age Hillfort, situated on the north-western outskirts of Weston-super-Mare, is a testament to our rich heritage. Now, the Model Hillfort project aims to bring this historical marvel to life using the universal language of LEGO bricks. The design of the model is meticulously crafted based on professional surveys of the hillfort, ensuring its authenticity. The project also benefits from the expertise of North Somerset Archaeologist Cat Lodge, ensuring that accuracy is paramount.

This interactive process not only fosters a sense of connection with history but also transforms the hillfort into a living educational experience. The site’s findings from 19th-century excavations played a pivotal role in inspiring the creation of Weston Museum itself, and this initiative is a continuation of that legacy.

Lisa Clemons, the Manager of Weston Museum, said, “Having a model built by local children here in the museum will help raise awareness of this impressive monument that is such an important part of Weston’s history.” The project extends an open invitation to everyone who wishes to participate, donate, and contribute to the construction. Cat Lodge, Principal Archaeologist at North Somerset Council, underlined the significance, stating, “What a lovely way to showcase the important links between Worlebury Camp and Weston Museum.”

To join hands in this remarkable endeavour, simply ask for a buy-a-LOGO brick form at Weston Museum. Every brick counts and every participant becomes a part of history. As you contribute, you’re not only building a LEGO model; you’re creating a tangible connection between the past and present, preserving our heritage for generations to come.

If you are a business that would like to sponsor brinks, we can add your logo to the finished fort display as a thank you.
